2D Animator (Adobe Animate)

Position Summary

Big Bad Boo Studios is looking for an experienced and talented Animator for an
upcoming 2D animated action-adventure series. If you have a passion for animation, a
fresh innovative style and limitless creative energy – we are looking for you!

Please note that the position is in-house in our Yaletown studio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on animated footage, creative retakes, and revisions as needed
  • Follow creative direction from Director, Supervising Director, and Animation
    Supervisor, and have the ability to receive feedback in a positive and
    professional manner
  • Work closely with production, supervisors, editors, and other artists to ensure
    that deadlines are met and that the creative vision of the show is
    implemented
  • Have creative judgment and provide suggestions/comments/creative solutions
  • Ensure quality standard for finished project using established 2D animation
    practices

Requirements

  • 3 to 4 years of experience in 2D animation and prior experience animating in
    Adobe Animate
  • Strong drawing skills and sense of animation basics, staging, posing, acting,
    timing, and composition
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively under strict deadline, and keen judgment for
    juggling multiple priorities
  • Ability to work with people from different disciplines and cultures with varying
    degrees of technical knowledge
  • Must be a team-player and a self-starter who thrives in small, team-oriented
    environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe Animate and Adobe Photoshop, and experience with Mac
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere is a plus

Layout Artist

Position Summary

We are seeking talented and passionate Layout artists for an upcoming 2D animated
action-adventure series. If you’re a team-player with a passion for creating wondering
new worlds, we are looking for you!
Please note that the position is in-house in our Yaletown studio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the creators, designers, and creative leads through the
    production process to maintain the vision and style of the series
  • Utilize key background designs as reference to create and paint new layouts
    according to completed storyboard sequences
  • Work on art design and color styling for layouts as needed
  • Follow direction and feedback, and incorporate notes from Director and
    Supervisor
  • Communicate with other departments (Setups, animation, etc.) to assess
    needs and contribute to a high-quality show
  • Manage time effectively to complete designs and revisions on time, and keep
    Production informed of progress and/or concerns
  • Create materials and other artwork as needed for the studio

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Layout Artist with a full portfolio of sample work in
    the field of 2D Animation/ episodic television.
  • Degree or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent
  • Expertise in Photoshop. Proficiency in Animate is a plus.
  • Strong painting skills, and an understanding of perspective and composition
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively under a strict deadline

Big Bad Boo operates a production studio with programs on Hulu, Amazon Prime, PBS Kids, and in over 120 countries, an international development division that produces content for social change in partnership with UNICEF and Ministries of Education around the world, and the Oznoz multilingual educational subscription VOD platform with programs in 12 languages

The Operations Coordinator will work on a variety of technical projects for the Oznoz streaming service. They will work with the Product Manager, as well as people in the Production and Marketing departments, to help maintain the platform across a variety of capacities. They will handle contracts, deliverables, and a collection of different technical tasks. This is an excellent position for someone interested in working in children’s media and/or for a streaming platform.

This position will report to the Product Manager and will be based in Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • The ideal candidate for this role needs strong knowledge of AWS website hosting/storage, audio/video codecs, Adobe Creative Cloud software, Mac OS file storage, FTP programs, and Microsoft/Google office products.
  • Work with company’s website/app developers to locate any issues
  • Communicate with vendors about any technical issues with files for shows
  • Sort, QC, upload, and enter episode titles, descriptions, thumbnails, and branding marks
  • Work with Marketing team to generate video ad campaigns, including editing videos

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Passionate about children’s content and/or animation
  • Strong knowledge of AWS website/hosting storage and audio/video codecs
  • Able to multitask when necessary, and work quickly to communicate project needs effectively
  • Experience with graphic design is a plus

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Bookkeeper will support the finance executive team in the New York Office as follows

  • Assist in preparation of contractor agreements, ensuring all required information is accurate and up to date.
  • Process all incoming invoices and reconcile against contracts.
  • Ensure that all payables are coded appropriately
  • Prepare funder/investor invoices for review based on production milestones achieved in accordance with the deliverable.
  • Follow up funders/investors regarding receivables, alerting management of any issues or expected delays.
  • Maintain income/deliverables master document for all programs.
  • Gathering, coding, entering and reconciling all credit card charges against monthly statements.
  • Manage expense reports
  • Manage timesheets in preparation for payroll cycles
  • Track receivables
  • Create and maintain sales reports for online media platform
  • Assisting the finance department with project tracking, coding and data entry
  • Assist CFO and VP Finance with final cost report preparation and audit documentation requests.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years Bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • Proficient in Quickbooks – online version
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail.
